High School and Middle School Youth Ministry

The goal of the OLG Youth Group is to help our middle school and high school students understand how their faith and talents enrich both their own lives and the lives of all who know them.  Our program provides opportunities through youth group meetings, social outings and service programs for our teens to live their faith.  Middle school and high school youth group meetings are held monthly throughout the school year and focus on fellowhsip and team building activities.  Lock-ins, retreats and social outings (ski trips, Emerald Pointe, Carowinds and Celebration Station) are held for both middle school and high school students.  Service programs that run throughout the year include Teen Court, serving dinner to the families at Pathways Shelter and running bingo games at a local senior center (Bingo Buddies).  Youth volunteers also assist during many church and community events.  Check out the Youth Group News below for upcoming activities and how to sign up!

OLG YOUTH MASS
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
7PM Mass

Youth Mass is a regular Sunday Parish Mass.  The only difference is that YOU, the youth of our parish serve as readers, greeters, ushers, choir members and gift bearers.  The Youth Mass is held once a month at the Sunday 7PM Mass.  All youth of the parish and their families are invited to come to this Mass and sit together as a group.  Our next Youth Mass will be held on Sunday, September 7 at 7PM.  Future Youth Mass dates are: 10/5. 

If you would like to participate in the Youth Mass as a reader, greeter, usher or gift bearer, please contact Katie Tang at the number above.

Do you sing?  Play an instrument?  Would you like to participate in the Youth Mass Choir?  Being in the Youth Choir involves participating in 2 rehearsals a month and also singing in the choir the day of our scheduled Youth Mass.  If you would like to be a part of the choir, please contact Katie Tang at the number listed above.

Our next visit to Pathways will be Monday, August 25. We will meet at the S. Chapman parking lot at 4:45pm and will return to OLG at approximately 7pm. Contact Katie to sign up. Future Pathways dates will be available soon.  The following youth are scheduled for this date:  Annie Armstrong, Josh Roth, Stratton and Pierce Barth.  Space is limited to 7 youth.


TEEN COURT  
All HS and MS students interested in serving as jurors for the Guilford County Teen Court are asked to contact Katie to sign up.  We will begin serving at Teen Court on Tuesday, September 9.  Participants will meet at the Guilford County Court House (Eugene Street entrance) at 5:45PM and will finish at approximately 7:30pm.  Youth are asked to wear their Sunday best (no jeans, t-shirts, or flip-flops) and will need to bring their signed information form with them when they arrive. OLG serves at Teen Court every 2nd Tuesday of the month.


FALL FESTIVAL
OLG's Fall Festival is September 26 and 27.  If you are available, this is a great time to get lots of community service hours.  We need held:  running the children's games; set-up, serving and cleaning up the Italian dinner; and much more.  Volunteers must sign-up for specific jobs in advance.  If you are interested, call Katie ASAP.
